He looked into my eyes, and my heart spoke out, “Please make me yours; You are all I have.” Time stood still, I prayed this moment would never end, We were together, just my Beloved and I. He then took my hand and engraved on my soul, “Eternally she is mine.” He gave me a gift – the gift of a new life, “Treasure it with your heart and soul.” I promised I would never let Him down. For He is my life, the guide to my destiny.
Time passed and my prayer was filled with thorns, A voice tempted, “What use is your prayer, there are no results. Come and join me; I can show you so much.” The world and its glitter took hold of me, I danced to the tunes of the voice below. I traveled far and wide, worked through dawn, Won great challenges, and was dazzled by life.
But one dark day, a storm arose, I was clouded with deep sorrow. I lost all I had, and stood in fear. Where had everyone gone – my family and friends? I closed my eyes and cried for help, I then remembered my eternal Friend. I called to Him, “Why did you leave my hand?”
He gazed into my eyes like before, “I was always with you, but you turned away.” Ashamed, I realized the promise I had not kept, I had nowhere to look, and no words to speak. But oh I prayed, “Please stay; You are all I have.” His sudden smile lit my heart, His love embraced my soul. His words echoed, “Treasure the gift with your heart and soul.” I took His hand, and this time, never to let go, We walked together, through joy and sorrow. He lived in my heart, I knew forever, The joy I had, was like no other.

After initiation, the question of our Master leaving us does not arise. As long as he has not seen us to our Home and made us stand face to face with our Father, he does not leave us. He is not only with us in this life, but this companionship goes on even after death. He does not become carefree after initiating us, but has taken on the responsibility of taking us back to our original Home. He does not leave us until we get merged in the Ocean of bliss, and then there is no separation either, for he too is that Ocean. The real form of the Master is Shabd, the Word. The more progress we make in Shabd, and change our behaviour and dealings with others accordingly, the nearer do we come to Him, and our love grows stronger and stronger.
