We often deem spiritual life different from our daily life. And we also think that the only way to communicate with & reach God is thru prayer. However life itself can be worship. We can live in this world and perform day to day actions with thought anchored in God, instead of fixing morning or night time as the prayer time. Do not neglect the worldly duties and responsibilities for the sake of prayer. But make your daily life itself a ‘prayer’ (worship).
Hanuman did not perform pujas; but he devoted himself to the service of Rama, as his humble servant & also helped society even putting himself to great risk. One must perform daily duties with sincerity & honesty and with actions which would be acceptable to his Guru; then the daily activities get converted into ‘Sadhana; because ‘Jeevan hi Sadhana hai’ – i.e. Life is itself worship.
Some people make a Temple in their homes – and keep special place for the same, where they sit and pray or perform rituals. This is good. However why not make the entire home as the temple or even better, entire society as a temple and the people as the living gods, and loving and treating each one with compassion & respect. Then God is really residing in such a home or society. There are no rules or conditions for naam smaran or sankirtan and one must not ignore the requests of children or the family when immersed in prayer or chanting.
By remembering the presence of God in whatever we do, it also helps to eliminate the ego; as then we neither take the credit for any good done by us and nor we get perturbed if something goes wrong. Our work will then have the impact of the Divine energy. Just as hair or nails when separated from the body have no vale, Bapu explains worship that is separate from and does not conform to ordinary life will also not be that valuable. By not forsaking worldly things & dedicating all we do to God all our actions become His actions.
Hence let us surrender our actions, our thoughts and our possessions to Him, such that our entire life becomes a prayer.
