By Gurudev Shivananda
“ Out of the keenest longing comes the fulfilment of the object. Every moment of your life should be spent in yearning of the Lord.”
If we look into ‘longing’ these words become electrified & rather frightening. ‘Longing’ means that your mind has become hooked on to something or someone, in a positive or a negative way. Just turn within for a moment and see your present longing.
Longing is long thought – a thought held in suspension which never leaves. You are conscious of it all the time. In that state of mind you are in the process of building your future – you have become an architect. Gurudev declares “You are not a Creature of Circumstances”. No we are creatures of what our longing is making.
So today sit quietly and look at your long thoughts – the thoughts that possess you – and know you are busy in bringing them to life. It could be fear of losing your partner, fear of illness, presumption that your friend is not sincere, or something quite wonderful. Please look. Find where is your longing and become aware.
You are the maker of your destiny; so turn your thoughts to the THOU within & dropyour illusions. Make your keenest longing for the THOUGH within like Meera and nothing else.
New Year message from Aparna Trust, Karnal:
“ Having lit the lamp of my life, I feed it with the tears of yearning
And place it here at Thy temple where I have come to meet Thee.
Time flies my Lord and Life is uncertain
I long to reach Thy abode. Do not tarry my Beloved! Hasten to my aid!”
LET US MAKE THE NEW YEAR VOW TO DEVELOP KEENEST LONGING FOR THE LORD AS MEERA HAD, TO REACH HIS ABODE SOON.
