At this time of the year most people think about Holiday gifts and New Year Resolution to make. The holiday gifts are mostly material gifts as games & toys for children, gadgets, entertainment for grown-ups. New Year resolutions mostly focus on improving physical body or mind as fitness, health, emotional wellness, relationships, giving-up harmful habits, etc.
Masters give us a different perspective. They point out that such resolutions are not lasting. Material gifts we receive or give have expiry date. Resolutions affecting body and mind will last as long as we reside in this body.
A lasting gift that we can give ourselves and our loved ones is practice of meditation on the inner light and sound (Atmajyoti and Anhad shabad). This inner connection fulfils us with eternal joy & bliss which is much greater that any material gifts of the world. The best resolution we can make is to meditate regularly, which will ultimately result in union with God. If we already know how to meditate then let us pray for regularity, devotion, commitment to keep it highest priority in our life, and love and compassion for all.
Devotion & Bhakti are inseparable and coupled with meditation the desire of Union with God becomes more and more intensified as had happened with most of the masters. As we get more established within ourselves we can face better the challenges of outer world. We also find that in us there is an “actor” and a ‘witness’. Going inwards the witness aspect grows and we remain untouched by outer events. Although the actor aspect subdues but becomes skilful to respond skilfully when required making oneself to take right actions in the world.
Hence in New Year let us resolve to be unshakable within & move towards a better world. Time changes people but there are people who change time. Let us be one of them.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
