Pleasure is not a problem. Seeking is the problem. It is as if the pleasure is out there and only there, and I have to go and find it. Turn the gaze within, and see where all these events are happening. Pleasure, pain, relation, disappointment, are the natural results of looking out. If we can trace all these to their own source, we may reach a very different conclusion.
What is this thing called longing? What is this thing called pleasure? What is this thing called suffering? What is it all? This is the beginning of realisation.
It is very difficult to look within, but a small attempt produces magic. God’s creation is all purifying. A Dead body could be beautiful tomatoes in two years if buried here. Air will decompose it; fire will burn it up. Nothing created by God (the Cosmic Creation) can ultimately be polluted. It is recycled.
We think the mind is impure. It just needs a little attention and purity will be restored.
Look into this thing that generates all the terrible thoughts and actions, and without wanting to eliminate them, become aware. Then ask yourself: “What are they? Have I swallowed them? This sorrow, pain, jealousy, unhappiness.”
Then suddenly, through grace you see that the Divine is Divine. Just as gold is gold, be it a bracelet or an image of a devil – it is gold. A bad habit, unmasked, drops away. What you see is the Self unchanged by anything that you have done or not done.
