All human beings have desires. Desires running amok is the cause of human suffering. Mostly desires function independent of discrimination & cause immense stress. Being carried away with what we want, we do not see the ground realities. The mind(mana) and the intellect(buddhi) become divorced entities. This discord is the base for human suffering.

One example of this lies in bad choices. A girl falls in love with a boy. She has many dreams after marriage. The mind fantasises Goa in monsoon, romantic cruises. After marriage the hard reality strikes. The boy hates anything to do with water, Monsoon & cruises. And is too busy for romance! And has not enough money anyway for holidays. But what she is facing is the consequence of her own choices, her own actions. Once an action is taken the consequence will have to be faced. There is no crying later. But if she had used intellect to scrutinise the dreams with ground realities she would not have been disappointed.

So too is with business decisions, there is a tendency to get carried away by dreams rather than see realities. So many people lose in business , stock market. It is difficult to keep one’s head up because the desires are so forceful. The greed, the fancies are all powerful motivators. It is easy to go along with them blindly and and live in a world that does not exist. But reality catches up shortly.

Studying Vedantic truth, living in consciousness, self-study, checking our weaknesses, ultimately fortifies the ‘intellect’ to be the controller of the mind and its dreams. Thus, we should be a conscious observer of thoughts so that we can control to follow the path of Truth.
