This is story of a little girl, Reena, who was studying in convent. She was very influenced by the saying in Bible, ”Ask and you shall receive”. She also learned to do small acts of kindness, to be generous & cultivate virtues. She was also taught, ’that her Guardian angel watched over her constantly’.

In school, she and her other little friends prayed regularly for a variety of favors. The list was quite long & included bright sunny morning on sports day, seniors inschool to perform well in Board Exams, etc. Reena had her own list of personal prayers that she was certain needed immediate attention. “Please God give measles to Miss Alvarez, for giving me zero in drawing test.” But Miss Alvarez was looking much better with each passing day. Reluctantly the disappointed Reena gave up on this.

But she didn’t give up praying. She prayed God, “I have never fainted at morning assembly, though girls around me keep dropping like nine pins. I feel so jealous of them God, especially when they are fussed over and given a glass of yummy orange juice. Can’t you let me have blackout too, just once?” But no, He decided to ignore her plea again. But such prayers continued. She used to wonder why wasn’t HE listening? It seemed as though she simply did not exist for Him She once tried to break her foot for making herself to be felt important by other students by jumping down the stairs, 3 steps at a time, jumping off the swing, etc. But she had unscathed body and a ummons to appear before Mother Superior in her office.

“Child, we have had enough of your wild ways. You will be gated. No morning walks for you for the next three weeks.” For Reena, this was an awful punishment, as she really loved those walks in the woods surrounding the school.

Much later in life, when Reena had become a mature adult, having weathered many challenges in life, she learnt that when that when He leaves some prayers unanswered, it is His way of showing that He knows what is best for us. He dpoesn’t keep any backlog, and answers each & every prayer in His own time & sometimes, when a prayer goes unanswered, that is the answer. Hence, We must learn to ACCEPT, ACCEPT, ACCEPT, what He does.
