According to Scriptures, all unhappiness is borne out of psychological condition of mind called “vritis”. In this condition 4 symptoms prevail:
1) Competition, 2) Jealousy, 3) Hatred (tiraskar), 4) Ego (Ahankar).

1. Competition: What is wrong in competition? Competing brings about the attitude of .
Doing something only to win, rather than excelling to your best potential which could be
higher. When winning and ‘not doing the best possible’ is the approach, it may lead to use of unfair means, & also compromise on quality.

2. Jealousy: It prevents a person from seeing good qualities in others. If someone is said to be wiser, the jealous person thinks he is a hypocrite and so does not try to gain his knowledge or advice.

3. Hatred: (or contempt) is directed towards those whom one feels are inferior to him. This creates further communication gap & misunderstandings, making the relations worse.

4. Ego: Is a feeling of being someone special. It makes one do things to attract attention & for getting appreciation of people. If this doesn’t happen the mind gets terribly disturbed & unhappy.

What then is the solution for getting rid of these Negative Emotions???
One must realise that the same Atma is the in dweller in the body of all persons, & only the outward forms are different. Since all are intrinsically one & the same (SAMVATAM), there is no question of one being superior, or inferior or special (egoistic).

Udhav Gita gives the Road map to reach this stage.
First, one has to keep doing his given duty sincerely, to the best of his capacity, without ulterior motive, or ego of ‘doership’. This is the path of KarmaYoga, which will lead ultimately to purity of mind, which is absolutely essential for Enlightenment.

After achieving a near-pure mind, one should get on to the path of Devotion, & unflinching Trust in God, known as Bhakti Yoga. Only after pursuing these paths continuously, one will at certain stage begin to feel the Oneness of all beings & supreme love for all, which is the Ultimate Bliss.
