Guru is aTattva, an element inside you. There is story that Krishna sent his close friend Udhav, a very wise man to the Gopis to give them Gnan. Udhav talked to them about Liberation, but none of them was interested, they were so ‘immersed’ in devotion to Krishna that they didn’t want to hear anything else. They all said, “Tell us something about Krishna, what is happening in Dwarka? We don’t want all this wisdom. We only long for Krishna and are happy in his longing. So please come and you also dance with us. This is how love makes one crazy. All boundaries drop; you feel one with everyone around and this is called Guru Tattva.
Guru is the one who lifts the burdens of negative qualities we have, which we cannot carry, and kindles
in us the devotional love; which is supposed be our true nature. So offer everything to the Master, your anger, your frustration, and all your good and bad feelings. The negative qualities pull us down and the positive qualities bring pride & arrogance in us. Hence, when we offer we become free. What remains is pure love.
The highest desire is to acquire knowledge and gain freedom. So only two things matter which make life more fruitful – ‘how much love did we give?’ and how much knowledge did we acquire?’ Knowledge is not reading and understanding but “constant awareness”. Knowledge is like an ocean. Some walk along the beach, get fresh oxygen and feel happy; some put their feet in water & enjoy the waves, while others go scuba diving deep in the ocean. So it is our choice to take a walk, or swim or go deeper.
Every single person on the planet is a seeker looking for peace, love and happiness. We should repose more gratitude for the Guru, for the care He has taken until now, and pray for taking us deeper in the ocean of knowledge, renew our focus on the Goal and resolve to follow His preachings to take us nearer to our goal.
