Doing whatever you have done, you will continue to get what you have got. So, to live wisely and happily, question the way of doing. Today, fast food has become a convenience.  There is no time to think about its harmful effects. So, too, quality of life is compromised in the race to earn a quick buck.

A majority of arms dealing business is viewed as a source of making money.  Some nations go to the extent of creating conflict in order to this business. To exploit the rich deposit of diamonds in economically weak countries, some unscrupulous businessmen create disorder among poor local tribes. Their infighting facilitates smuggling of diamonds. All for quick money. This is depicted in the movie 'Blood Diamond'.

Not surprisingly, one is caught up in the activity without experiencing fulfillment.  Hence, learn to question your actions. Pause, re-look and don’t be blindly led by others.

A French entomologist conducted a breathtaking experiment using processionary caterpillars that travel in a long line with the same pace and rhythm, giving no attention to the final destination. They follow their leader. The entomologist took a giant flower pot and placed a large amount of food at its centre. Then, he placed the caterpillars onto the rim of the flowerpot. After some time, he could not find out who was the leader as the creatures were moving in circles one behind the other. Even after seven days and nights, they were moving on the rim and did not break the pattern to eat the food in the centre of the pot. In the end, they died of starvation and exhaustion. Their source of life was visible yet invisible. They could not alter their habitual and instinctive processionary instinct. This is true of us as well. We get caught in patterns and end up unfulfilled.

Therefore, question every action. Also question, who is the doer?  Is it the self? If you see the whole process of the self and how it unfolds itself in action, then you will see, it is more harmful than useful. The self wants to be better than the other and in the process becomes bitter. This creates divisions and any division leads to conflict. Nations have divided themselves, and in fear try to protect themselves; they hoard arms to destroy each other. The urge to be secure creates more insecurity and chaos.

The self, if you go little deeper, you will understand that it is nothing but your thought. When there is no thought, there is no self as in state of deep sleep. So self hangs on thought. Thought is an expression of memory. Hence, for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, when memory is gone, they lose sense of self. The thought is conditioned by conclusions, dogmas, opinion, likes and dislikes. Thought is therefore not free, for it is bound by its conclusions and dogmas and hence the self is not free. This bound self creates disorder and chaos. If one sees this totally and nonverbally, then intelligence will be born, and that will end the egoistic self.

Look at Creation. It exists without the functioning of self. Therefore, there is intrinsic intelligence in Creation. Learn from Creation to function without bringing in ‘i’.  Can one break this psychological groove surrounding the self or ‘i? This is a spiritual challenge, and this questions all that we know. If this understanding happens, there will be a quantum leap in our insight.
