We must not bluff ourselves. We must be able to look at ourselves and know what we are. Deep within is God, the Cosmic Consciousness. Deep within everything is God! But within us are also many negative things, covering up the treasure. There is only ONE person in your life who can get those negativities – that dust – out, and that is you. Nobody can help you. You have to walk the Path alone. We are all walking together, but alone. I can put my hand out and help you somewhere, but I cannot carry you and you cannot carry me.
Are we lacking the necessary courage? Are we continually turning away, refusing to look at ourselves, wanting to keep the big ego and the glamour? It does not work that way. You must surrender.
Christ said to the rich man, “Give everything you have to the poor, and follow me.” There are two meanings in that. First, Christ is telling him, “You are hooked to wealth. Drop the attachment. It is your money that is binding you; that is what is destroying you. You are bound. Share your wealth.” But the rich man could not do it. The esoteric meaning is that we have to look within, and drop everything that is binding us. Then we are following His teaching.
Do you know what is binding you? Look and find out. What is it that is causing your unhappiness? YOU alone have to find out, for nobody else can tell you.
