Saints have endorsed need to lead a truly simple life. It need not be two extremes – highly flamboyant or starkly austere life. In fact life of balance & moderation is desired. But we create a facade about our status, power & affluence & to live up to this cosmetic image, we get forced to indulge in greed, corruption, conceit, etc. But choice is ours – either we choose to suffer a delusional life style or adhere to one that is genuine. Be true to yourself.

Money to some extent is essential for happiness & comfort. However, an evolved perspective enables harmonious integration of material prosperity & spiritual progress. After achieving a comfortable level of financial security, choosing the right direction is vital.

We can maximise our happiness by controlling Expectations & Comparisons. High expectations invariably end up getting hurt and Comparisons negative emotions like discontentment, jealousy, unhealthy competition. Often we make our life onerous by nursing secret grudges & resentment against others who may be totally oblivious of our acrimonious feelings. This self-created baggage will only perpetuate the uncalled-for miseries. Cultivate generous disposition—forget, forgive and move on in life.

Life however, may not be always rewarding, during troubled times, we need to maintain unwavering faith in Almighty. A trusting non-resistant attitude will help us in facing realty with calmness. On the other hand if negative attitude is adopted, reality does not change. It only leads to our mental suffering. Hence once again choice is ours.

For true, lasting happiness, it is imperative to live in present. Past is a grave and the future is probably a dream & uncertain. Hence living in present only yields positive results. Again, the Choice is ours.
